Year Seven

The emphasis in Year 7 is to encourage leadership skills, self-motivation, taking responsibility for ones actions and developing the attributes of a life long learner.

To assist with the achievement of these goals, students are exposed to a variety of curriculum based activities which encourage active investigations, opportunities to enhance deeper understandings and effective communications.

Our four school captains, twelve sports captains and classroom elected student council reps provide a voice for all students. These school leaders are involved in a variety of decision making opportunities throughout the year.

Planning and implementation in curriculum areas will focus on:

• Mathematics-Number, Measurement, Space, Chance and Data, Patterning and Algebra with a strong emphasis on problem solving and mental calculation
• English-Reading and Comprehension, writing and studying core genre, spelling and oral presentations
• SOSE-outcomes-based units including: Responsible Participation, Being Australian, Australia's Contact with the World and Resource Management
• Science-an outcomes-based curriculum which focuses on Energy and Change, Earth and Beyond, Life and Living, Working Scientifically and Natural and Processed Materials
• HPE outcomes-based curriculum

• The Arts - Outcome based units including visual arts, media, drama and music.

The children also participate in the school's specialist programs and activities such as gifted and talented program and instrumental music.
